Marriage (Settlement)
At DavidsonMorris we deal with a wide range of settlements applications made inside and outside the UK. We understand how stressful it is to be separated from your spouse or partner for a prolonged period and we go to great lengths to make the application process as stress free as possible.
What is a settlement visa?
‘Settlement visa’ is the term used to describe an application to enter or remain in the UK as the spouse or partner of someone present and settled in the UK.
There are several settlement subcategories as follows:
- Spouse visa (for applicants who are already married)
- Fiancé visa (for applicants intending to marry in the UK)
- Civil Partner visa (for applicants who have already formed a civil partnership)
- Proposed Civil Partner visa (for applicants intending to undertake their civil partner ship ceremony in the UK)
- Unmarried partner (for applicants who can demonstrate cohabitation for 2 years prior to making an application)
The Immigration Rules relating to the above categories are the same if you are making an application inside or outside the UK, however the procedure will be considerably different and we will ensure that you are aware of what is required from you from the outset.
We are more than happy to discuss your settlement application in person or via a telecom. We do not charge for an initial consultation.
