I had a call from a very angry lady claiming that her naturalisation application had been refused for having points on her licence. “But I have never been to jail, I’m not a criminal!” was what she said.
And yes, points on your licence is not the equivalent to GBH! But while we appreciate driving endorsements and bans etc may not register to us all as criminal convictions, the UK Border Agency view it differently. The requirements are that you must not have any unspent convictions at the time of application.
