Over the last couple of months, there has been a significant increase in the number of EEA nationals applying for Naturalisation particularly from Greek nationals.
The key element is that an applicant must demonstrate that they have been exercising Treaty Rights for a minimum period of 6yrs.
What are Treaty rights? I hear you ask………….
In brief, one of the following
- Economically active…….in other words, you have been working or self-employed; or
- Undertaking a course of study; or
- Have held full health insurance for the entire period
There are numerous documents to be submitted in support of your application and you must also pass the Life in theUKtest.
The good news is that you don’t need to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain, you can submit your application direct to the naturalisation department and once approved, eligible to apply for a British passport.
If you are Greek or indeed a national from any of the EEA countries and would like to apply, feel free to call.
